Peace and Non-Violence
The School Sisters of Notre Dame reflect our commitment to peace and non-violence through how we live, pray, educate, give public witness, and engage in our various ministries. SSNDs often challenge our governments to address security concerns through peaceful and non-violent means.
We also recognize our interconnectedness with all of creation and seek to live in harmony with all of life. Many people think issues of peace and non-violence exclusively in terms of people-to-people interaction, but our relationship with the earth and all creation must also be part of our focus for the sake of all life.
Around the world, SSNDs commemorate the International Day of Peace, September 21, in a variety of ways - sometimes leading public prayer services.
