The SSND Guide to Laudato Si’ Commitment focus for April 15-June 2 is Response to Cry of the Earth. The following is a short prayer and a sample list of ways to work toward that goal:
Creator God, You fill the earth with life. Lead us to live in harmony with your creation. May we respect all life from the smallest of plants to the tallest of trees, the vastness of the oceans to the majesty of mountains, and the tiniest insects to the wildest beasts.
Suggested Actions:
- Plant trees, pollinator plants, and conservation landscaping. Cultivate a vegetable garden.
- Open and close windows and curtains to take advantage of natural temperature regulation. Adjust your thermostat a few degrees and put on or remove layers as necessary.
- Turn off light sources when not needed and find ways to reduce your water consumption.
Of course, these are just a few of the myriad ways to take action. You may choose to implement one of those ideas, or they may serve as a jumping off point for an initiative of your own.
