On October 24, the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) celebrates its Foundation Day. It was on that day in 1833 that Blessed Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger founded the congregation in Bavaria. Now, 193 years later, we celebrate the sisters who continue to live out the SSND mission every day with their ministries, their presence, and their prayers. We also honor the SSND associates and lay colleagues who work side-by-side with sisters, supporting and extending their efforts.
Please enjoy this Foundation Day 2026 video, as we thank God for the extraordinary gift of the SSND charism and the continued prompting of the spirit that leads us to follow His will.
