On the morning of August 14, School Sisters of Notre Dame and members of the SSND staff from the Atlantic-Midwest and Central Pacific Provinces took part in a one-mile walk in prayer through downtown Atlanta. This group of SSND pilgrims joined several hundred LCWR assembly participants, filling the streets with readings, songs, and silent contemplative prayer focused on the impact of racism, forced migration, and climate change.
Part of the 2025 LCWR Assembly taking place from August 12-15, the event was one of the Pilgrimages of Hope being organized by Catholic organizations across the United States to mark the Jubilee of Hope, the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of Creatures.
