|The Pond by Sister Eileen Casey, SSND|
May 29, 2016 - Corpus Christi
June 3, 2016 - Feast of the Sacred Heart
Celebrating the Body of Christ, that is all of us and the earth itself (perhaps we could include the universes), we probably think Eucharist. This painting widens our focus to remember that human bodies are 60-70 percent water and totally dependent on blood. Eucharist means Body and Blood of Christ. I see a blood stream carrying oxygen, nutrients, bathing each cell. Ponder Jesus' blood stream. In this picture, I also reflect on the blood and water streaming from the pierced heart of Jesus, just as blood and water flow in the birthing process.
"Fill the earth, bring it to birth," my heart sings. What does your heart say when you look at this painting by Sister Eileen Casey, SSND, of Wilton, Connecticut.
