Sponsored, Co-Sponsored and Supported Ministries
SSND Sponsorship is the mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between the congregation and an organization in which the SSND charism and educational vision are defining characteristics of the organization.
School Sisters of Notre Dame holds reserved powers in these organizations, either as members of the corporation in a two-tier board structure of governance, through the bylaws of the corporation, or through a legally binding document.
SSND co-sponsorship is the mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between the School Sisters of Notre Dame and one or more other congregations/organizations and a given organization or institution, in which the co-sponsoring congregation’s charisms and educational visions are defining characteristics. The School Sisters of Notre Dame, along with the other co-sponsoring congregations/organizations, hold reserve powers in these organizations/institutions either as "members of the corporation" in a two-tier board structure of governance, or through the bylaws of the corporation or through a legally binding document.
An SSND Supported Ministry is one that was initiated by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in response to a need of the time. The founding province continues to support the ministry with SSND personnel and/or financial support.
